Barber Iwan Website v2
After a few years, my cousin asked me to add additional functionality to the website. On his old website, he didn’t have enough content, which is why I had previously decided to create a one-pager. However, for the new website, multiple pages were required. He wanted to be able to showcase photos on the website (a kind of portfolio) and also have a page where visitors could view the pricing. Based on these new requirements, I advised rebuilding the website from scratch.
The Design
The design of the new website needed to remain dark, just like the previous version. A new logo was also provided. Based on this, I created a completely new design for the website. I chose to use a stock photo as the hero image and blended it into a black background. As the primary color, I used a yellow-gold tone, as it conveys warmth, creativity, and luxury — qualities that align well with Barber Iwan.
I also selected the typography for the website. For the headings, I chose the font Oswald because it has a strong visual impact and, as a condensed font, it does not take up much horizontal space when longer headings are used. This also helps reinforce the visual hierarchy of the website. For the body text, I chose the font Rubik because it reads comfortably on screens.
Development
For the development of the website, I chose to use a frontend framework in combination with a headless CMS. Since I already had experience with Vue, I decided to build the website using Nuxt. For the CMS, I selected Strapi because it runs on Node.js and offers a pleasant developer experience. Additionally, Strapi provides the flexibility to extend the CMS and customize it by writing JavaScript or TypeScript code.
